Chance telephone call draws in singer Briggs

Dwain Briggs, a Grammy-nominated singer, is coming to Madera.

Briggs will be in concert at the Spiritual Awareness Center, located at 218 South D St. in Madera on Sunday, Jan. 29.

The service will begin at 12:45 p.m.

Briggs is the featured vocalist on Grammy-nominated album, "Solace." Briggs has shared the stage with many best-selling authors, including Deepak Chopra, Marianna Williamson, Neale Donald Walsh, Greg Braden, Louise Hay, Deannion Brinkley, Doreen Virtue, James Twyman and Steve Allen.

Briggs is coming to Madera by accident. He called a Madera church that he confused with a much larger church where Briggs performs for thousands.

"What would it take to bring you here?" the Rev. Steve Walling asked. Briggs told him he would add Madera to his tour.

There is no charge for the concert. A love offering will be taken.
