Plainsburg Elementary graduates 10

Sharing favorite memories and looking to the future, 10 Plainsburg Elementary School eighth grade students received their diplomas on Tuesday, June 1.

Excited family and friends were gathered to celebrate with the graduates. Plainsburg faculty watched the ceremony with pride as they saw the transformation of their former students now ready to move on to the life of a high school student.

The Class of 2010 chose as their theme, "Our journey is just about to begin."

The graduates entered the gym as the processional was played.

Plainsburg Superintendent/President Vernon A Snodderly, who was brought back out of retirement this year, introduced the Class President, Nathan Urrutia. Urrutia then introduced the Class of 2010;

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by graduate Adrian Garcia. Following the pledge Garcia called for a moment of silence in honor of the military.

Graduate Colton Asbury gave a review of Boys and Girls Basketball Teams for the year.

Graduate Dustin Slate shared the successes of the volleyball and football season.

Memories from kindergarten through fifth grade were shared by graduate Mark Barroso. Courtney Burks reminisced about the class' experiences from sixth through seventh grade.

Graduate Jordan Curtis said a high point during their eighth grade year was traveling to Great America in a limousine.

Urrutia introduced Mr. Snodderly to the packed gym of well wishers.

Snodderly congratulated the Class of 2010 and encouraged them to make the most of high school.

Snodderly presented the Valedictorian Award to Nathan Urrutia.

The American Legion Award was presented to Nathan Urrutia and Dania Ortiz.

Snodderly introduced the three yearbook editors, Courtney Burks, Marissa Garcia and Dania Ortiz.

the Most Improved Award went to Mark Barroso.

The students were presented their diplomas by members of the Board of Trustees.

The Plainsburg Union Elementary School Board of Trustees include: Jim Bright, Kim Eason-Brooks, Kris Barroso, Matt Kahi and Ross Urrutia.
