Suspected Oakhurst drug dealer nabbed by sheriff's deputies
A drug overdose in Oakhurst last Wednesday night led deputies to a dealer who they believe is responsible.
Eighteen-year-old Tyler Sellers of Ahwahnee was arrested outside a building in Oakhurst, ironically where recovering addicts were meeting.
Shortly before 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19, Sergeant Matt Mollet along with Deputies Bennie Romiti, Luis Padgett and Jeffrey Noland were contacted by a distraught woman who said she discovered her 19-year old son had overdosed. The young man was treated by paramedics and rushed to an area hospital.
In an effort to find the supplier, deputies learned about an individual nicknamed "Tyler Weezy;" and successfully tracked him down outside a church in Oakhurst where they believed another "drug score" was about to take place.
At approximately 8:47 p.m. Tyler Prather-Sellers was taken into custody without incident.
The alleged dealer was found to be in possession of numerous prescription drugs, including 97 (10 mg) tablets of Methadone.
Tyler Sellers was booked shortly before midnight for possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for sales. He remains jailed with bail set at $10,000.
The victim of the drug overdose is recovering.
