Make-up game with Kerman ends in a Chowchilla loss

Game is first league loss for Chowchilla.

The week started off with Chowchilla's first loss on the season, but ends with two wins.

Chowchilla Union High School varsity baseball team traveled to Kerman for a make up game and came home with a 4-3 loss.

The 'Skins scored a run in the first, third and sixth inning to hold a 3-1 lead until the seventh inning.

On Kerman's last inning, the Lions scored three runs for the 4-3 win.

Chowchilla's losing pitcher, Thomas Flanagan, pitched a complete game facing 30 batters with four strikeouts, two walks, allowing seven hits with four runs.

Flanagan went two for three at the plate with one double and one RBI. Sean Kinsley contributed one hit and one run, Kirk Delmas had one hit, Matt Ruckman had one hit and one run. Charlie Irby chipped in one RBI and had a sacrifice fly. Tyler Cook went one for two with one RBI and one run.

The next day, the Redskins hosted Liberty High School and took the victory, 3-1.

Liberty scored the first run in the first inning. Chowchilla followed with one run in the second, third and fifth innings, and held Liberty to one run.

Flanagan went one for two with one run, one RBI and a double. Sean Kinsley went one for three. Schiesser had one hit and one double. Ruckman contributed one hit with one run. Kyle Kinsley chipped in two hits with one RBI. Irby had one hit. Cook went two for three with one double and Tyler Badger went one for two with one run and one double.

The week ended with another win, 8-5, for the Redskins against the Sierra Chieftains.

Chowchilla scored one run in each of the first three innings. The Chieftains scored three runs in the second and two in the third to take the lead, 5-3 going into the fourth inning.

No runs were scored for either team in the fourth inning but Chowchilla came out strong in the fifth inning scoring four runs.

In the sixth inning the Redskins scored another run and held Sierra to five runs.

Flanagan took the win on the mound, facing 15 batters in four innings with two strike outs and no errors. Cook pitched three innings, facing 16 batters with five strike outs, allowing six hits and five errors.

Chowchilla's Flanagan went two for four with three RBIs. Sean Kinsley went one for three with one run, three RBIs and one double. Schiesser went one for three with one RBI and one run. Ruckman went two for three with three runs and one triple. Kyle Kinsley went one for two. Irby contributed one hit with one double and one RBI. David Souza contributed one run and Badger pitched in with two runs in the win.
