Mayor's prayer breakfast set for May

The city of Chowchilla will be celebrating the week of the National Day of Prayer on May 4, with their annual Mayor's Prayer Luncheon. The luncheon will be hosted by Mayor Jim Kopshever. The actual National Day of Prayer is on May 6, this year, however, this event had to be rescheduled due to a previously scheduled conflict.

The guest speaker for the Mayor's Prayer Luncheon will be Greg Sumii, Senior Associate Pastor of Northwest Church in Fresno.

"Prayer for Such a Time as This," is the theme of the 2010 National Day of Prayer. The National Day of Prayer (NDP) is an annual event for

Americans of all faiths to take time to pray for the nation and its leaders. The NDP was established by an act of Congress as a day to call the entire nation to pray. Groups all over the world will come together during this week to pray for the nation, leaders, communities, families and youth.

The event will be held at Life Change Church Faith Hall located at the corner of Robertson Boulevard and Seventh Street. The doors will open at 11 a.m. for lunch and the program, will begin at noon.

The buffet lunch , catered by Saverios Restaurant, is $12 per person. Lunches are limited so RSVPs are required. Call the city's Public Information Officer at 665-8615, ext. 110 no later than Wednesday, April 28. For those not interested in the lunch, attendance is free to the public for the program beginning at noon.
