The City of Chowchilla recently released a draft utility rate study affecting water and wastewater utility charges. During the two public sessions held to review the rate study it was announced that on March 8, the City Council would be asked by staff to authorize the release of written notices about the rate study to each affected property owner. That request is being delayed to allow the city to determine whether its application for grant monies to pay for the new water meters required by the State of California will be approved. If the application is approved there is a good possibility the overall amount of rate increase could be significantly reduced.

Staff expects to return before the City Council with the request to release the rate study notices at either the March 22 or April 13 City Council meeting.
