Girls Soccer: Lady 'Skins win two in a row

The Lady Redskins of Chowchilla Union High School came out on top this week against Washington Union and Kerman High School.

On Tuesday, Feb. 9, the 'Skins played their final home game against the Washington Union Panthers and came out with a 8-2 victory.

The game started off slow with Washington Union scoring two goals to Chowchilla's one in the first half.

Coming back into the second half, the teamwork of the Lady Redskins came alive with seven goals. The 'Skin's defense held the Panthers scoreless.

Redskin Anel Romo topped off the scoreboard with five goals and one assist. Shayla Allen contributed three goals in the game. Redskin Nancy Lopez chipped in with three assists and Lised Piceno added one assist in the win. Lady 'Skin Gabriela Jimenez had four saves in the win.

On Thursday, Feb. 11, the Redskins traveled to play against the Kerman Lions.

In the first half, the Redskins scored two goals and held Kerman to one.

Redskin Lised Piceno and Shayla Allen were the goal makers. Anel Romo had one assist.

The 'Skins defense held Kerman scoreless in the second half. Offense was unable to score, ending the game with a Redskin 2-1 victory.

Redskin Gabriela Jimenez had four saves against Kerman.

The Chowchilla Redskins went 8-9-2 in the overall season and 3-6-1 in league play.

The players on the team consisted of Tatiana Villareal, Alejandra Torres, Angela Santamaria, Gabriela, Iniguez, Mady Diaz, Jackie Gonzalez, Amelia Upton, Liia Gonzalez, Karly Nieuwkoop, Gigi Ocampo, Lised Piceno, Anel Romo, Nancy Lopez, Shayla Allen, Gabriela Jimenez, Erica Romero, Veronica Esquivel, Serina Ulrick and Cristal Ultreras.
