Law enforcement to take plunge
Annual Polar Plunge benefits Special Olympics.
CHOWCHILLA NEWS STAFF
The Chowchilla Police Officer's Association invites the community to join in supporting the Ninth Annual Polar Plunge benefiting Special Olympics.
The Polar Plunge, held on Feb. 27, at Millerton Lake, is a Northern California Law Enforcement Torch Run sponsored event in support of Special Olympics during which law enforcement personnel and their many community supporters promote public awareness and raise financial support for the training and athletic competition for children and adults with developmental disabilities.
The Chowchilla Police Officer's Association is committed to establishing strong community partnerships and being engaged with the community through these events. One-hundred percent of all donations collected from this event goes to Special Olympics Northern California and enables Special Olympics to provide unparalleled opportunities for local athletics to demonstrate their abilities, strengthen their character, develop their physical skills, fulfill their human potential and change the way the world looks at people with developmental disabilities. Without community support, may of those with intellectual disabilities would be left to medication or institutions, never experiencing what so many people take for granted.
The Chowchilla Police Polar Plunge captain is Sgt. Dave Noblett. Taking the plunge with Noblett is Acting City Administrator/Police Chief Jay Varney, Sgt. Dave Riviere and officer Tyler Hormel.
Join the fun and take the plunge or make a monetary pledge. Ask your family, friends, and co-workers to support local police in the 2010 Polar Plunge benefiting Special Olympics Northern California. Anyone can participate, just register on line. Simply go to the Polar Plunge Web site to sign up and form a team, to plunge solo or to support the Chowchilla PD team. You will find everything you need to know on the plunge website at www.sonc.org/polarplunge.
Special Olympics Northern California is a 501-C3 non-profit registered in California Tax ID# 68-036312. For more information about this event call Noblett at 665-8600.
