Monday morning started a new school year for the Alview Dairyland School District.

Students, parents, teachers and staff walked onto both campuses ready to begin a new year.

Eighth graders were excited about being the "Big Kid" on campus while kindergarteners clung to their parents not wanting to go, some parents had a harder time letting go.

Some of the Alview students waited by the entrance gate on the Dairyland campus until all the students for Dairyland got off the bus and then they were escorted to the bus to Alview.

Both the Alview and the Dairyland office staff are busy still taking new enrollment. As of Monday morning there were 195 students enrolled at the Dairyland campus, fourth through eighth grade students and approximately 150 students enrolled at the Alview campus, kindergarten through third grade.

Superintendent/principal Mrs. Flanagan, and Vice Principal Mrs. Perry have observed a degree of calmness and enthusiasm on Alview-Dairyland students' first day of school.

"Our teachers are very organized and eager to meet their new students to start a great year," stated Flanagan. "Everyone looks excited to be back. Some goals we have set for our students are to increase our technology usage, increase in standards mastery, and to continue to develop as productive citizens with high moral character.

"We are looking forward to developing even a stronger line of communication between students, staff, parents and community," he stated.
