Chowchilla Elementary School welcomes seven new teachers

The Chowchilla Elementary School District began the new year with many new faces Tuesday morning. Among those new faces were seven new teachers. They include Katie Sears, Amanda Hardcastle, Nancy Garcia, Barbara Moran, Aaron Harding, Ryoji Bunden and Lindsay Creswell.
Katie Sears is a new kindergarten teacher at Stephens School.
Sears was born in Fresno. She attended California State University, Fresno where she earned her BA in Liberal Studies and received her multiple subject teaching credential with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education.
Before coming to Chowchilla, she taught pre-school in Madera for two years.
She enjoys shopping, reading and spending time with her husband.
Amanda Hardcastle joined the staff at Fuller School as a second grade teacher.
Hardcastle was born in Fresno. She graduated from Sierra High School in 2004. She is a graduate of California State University, Fresno in 2008 Early Childhood Education Credential program.
Before being hired by CESD she was a long term substitute for Central Unified and Chawankee Unified School District.
Her hobbies include traveling, being outside, swimming, playing volleyball, basketball and hanging out with her family and friends.
There are three new second grade teachers at Fuller School.
Nancy Garcia was born in Los Angeles.
She received her BS in Business Administration from California State University Fresno, and her teaching credential from National University.
Before accepting a full-time position she was a substitute teacher for the past two years. She was a long-term sub at Reagan Elementary and River Bluff Elementary in the Central Unified District.
Garcia enjoys traveling and learning how to cool by watching the Food Network.
Barbara Moran will also be teaching second grade at Fuller School. Moran grew up in Chowchilla and attended Fuller School. She was born in Merced.
Moran received her BA from California State University, Fresno and did her credential work through National University out of Fresno.
This is Moran's first full-time teaching position. She was a substitute teacher for two years in Madera and Merced counties.
Her hobbies include reading, photography and she is a Bay Area sports fan.
Aaron Harding was hired to teach Science, Life Science and Physical Science at Wilson Middle School to seventh and eighth grade students.
Harding was born in Selma. He is a graduate of Kingsburg High School.
Harding received his BA in Art with lots of science units from California State University, Fresno.
He is a first year teacher.
His hobbies include ceramics, sculpture and silk screening.
Ryoji Bunden is Wilson Middle School's newest math teacher. He will be teaching seventh and eighth grade students.
Bunden was born in Salinas.
He has a BS in Liberal Studies from California State University, Fresno and a Masters of Education from National University.
Before coming to Chowchilla he taught for two years at Firebaugh High School and one year at Desmond Middle School in Madera.
He enjoys running, family, good movies and good food.
When a lot of school districts in California are cutting music programs due to budgets, the Chowchilla Elementary School District has fought hard to maintain a music program for Chowchilla students. When Allan Spencer announced his decision to move to the high school level, the board knew they had a challenge to replace him. Music teachers are scarce. The District and staff is excited to have found someone with the caliber and enthusiasm as Lindsay Creswell.
Creswell will be teaching music at Wilson Middle School and Fairmead School.
She was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
She received her Bachelor of Music and Master of arts in Teaching at USC.
She is a first year teacher.
She enjoys restoring antique furniture, practicing the French horn and hiking.
